The one in the garden of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich [Museum of Design Zurich ]. It is in the Ausstellungsstrasse, in the heart of the bohemian and vibrant Kreis 5, almost on the back of Hauptbahnhof.
The Museum of Design Zurich developed out of the Museum of Arts and Crafts, and as it own name says, encompasses whatever statement which can be called design. It (humbly) considers itself to be Switzerland’s premier design and visual communication museum, covering fields including design, furniture, textiles, fashion, jewellery, applied arts, graphics, typography, photography, new media, book art, posters, film and design in intermediate areas, but also architecture, stage design, interior design and public spaces (sic). By the sound of it sounds like an over punctuated and spinned sentence to describe something put together to clear out the warehouse, but… It is actually a great museum with fantastic objects and truly fascinating exhibitions.
But, back to fountains… A lot can be found about the museum building, but its gardens and fountains seem not being worthwhile a mention. It is a pity – it a gorgeous garden, full of different lights and people passing by. Even if design is not your thing, sitting in this garden is a balm for the soul.
